Halloween Percussion Palooza!

Project Overview
In this project, you will work individually using GarageBand in the Music Tech Lab. Each student creates a four-measure musical composition using percussion sounds. The students then play their compositions for the whole class.

Project Steps
Before beginning, write a short Halloween story that you can read into Garage Band as a narrative for your percussion sounds.
1. Open GarageBand and create a new Software Instrument track, choosing Drum Kits and then a specific kit such as the Techno Kit.
2. Use the keyboard to explore the percussion sounds available in the kit that they selected by pressing the corresponding keys on the keyboard.
3. Once you have identified several sounds, you should choose Count In from the Control menu. 4. Click the Record button and record four measures using one of the sounds.
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for three additional tracks, using a different percussion sound on each track. You can re-record tracks if they don't like how they turn out.
6. Record your story as a new Real Instrument track, choosing vocal. You can go back later and change the timbre of your voice using the vocal selection tool.

Save your project on the desktop. Once it is complete, we will save it as an MP3 to post on a website where parents and others can listen to it.
