Garage Band Project: Syncopation

This project will be completed in GarageBand.  All of the Apple computers in the Music Department have GarageBand and can be used to complete this project.  You may also complete it at home on your own computer.

You will record all four voices as separate tracks in GarageBand.  When you are finished, they should line up to create a 4-track recording.  Using headphones to record is important so you don’t pick up the other tracks while recording.

• Open Garage Band and choose EMPTY PROJECT or NEW PROJECT
• From the drop-down menu that appears, choose AUDIO (Record Using a Microphone) and Click CREATE
• Using the tool bar at the top, change the BPM metronome marking to 100 and select the metronome icon.
• When you are ready to record, you will hear a 4 beat count-off.  Start recording when you hear the next beat 1.
•  For the second track, choose TRACK from the top toolbar.  Select NEW TRACK and follow the directions from step 2 above.
• Continue adding tracks until you have completed all four.
• When you have finished recording all four tracks, click SHARE from the top toolbar.
•  Select EXPORT SONG TO DISK.  Be sure MP3 button is selected.
• After the track downloads, send this MP3 to me at JMinnis@darienps.org.
