Pi Day Composition


Using Pi (through 50 decimal places), write a piece of music
3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510

Every number will correspond to a note in a MAJOR scale.  For example, in C Major, the numbers would correspond like this:
1=C 2=D 3=E 4=F 5=G 6=A 7=B 8=C 9=WILD 0= rest

GRADING GUIDELINES:
  You must use Finale Notepad. This way, you can email me your .mus file so that I can hear it. (5 pts)

 You can choose the TIME SIGNATURE that works best for you. (25 pts)

 You can choose the MAJOR KEY signature that works best for you. (25 pts)

 You can use any note values, but they must be in the correct Pi numeric order. (20 pts)

 The corresponding numbers must be placed underneath the notes. (25 pts)
Using the LYRICS tool, you can add the numbers directly under each note. Clicking TAB will allow you to move to the next note easily.


EXTRA CREDIT*:
Save the Finale file as a MIDI and import it to GarageBand. Add loops (drums, bass, piano) or lyrics to make it interesting. (+5 pts)


EMAIL YOUR COMPOSITION as a .mus file TO DHSComposition@gmail.com BY FRIDAY, MARCH 13 AT 2:20.  I do not want a picture of your composition.

*If you choose to do a GarageBand extra credit, send that as an additional MP3 file.
