Rhythmic Composition: Note values

The newest C day composition is available at http://www.darienps.org/teachers/jminnis/RhythmComposition.pdf.  In this composition, you will write a series of given note values in a given order.  Be very careful with the directions.  Upperclassmen should note that there is an extra component to the assignment.

The names of the notes will help you to understand the relationship between the note values. Each succeeding note value is half as long as the previous note value. A half note is 2 beats, which is twice as fast as a whole note.  A quarter note is 1 beat, which is twice as fast as a half note.  And, an eighth note is 1/2 a beat, which is twice as fast as a quarter note and so on.

Each of these notes is half as long as the note above it.
