How to receive 5 BONUS POINTS (Honors Credit) each quarter:
1. Choose one item from each section
2. All performances must be completed during the quarter time period
Quarter 1: August 31- October 30
Quarter 2: November 2 – January 13
Quarter 3: January 22 – March 29
Quarter 4: March 30 – June 7
PERFORMANCE
· Private lessons
· Youth Symphony
· Form a duo, trio or quartet and perform at events
· Audition for Western Regional Orchestra
· Perform at a Tri-M Recital
· Become a member of Pop Strings
COMMUNITY SERVICE
· Assist with Elementary Orchestra rehearsals for the entire quarter (space is limited)
Hindley, Royle and Tokeneke Orchestras meet after school
· Perform in public at a church or nursing home
· Become a practice buddy for an elementary or middle school student
· Assist with all Elementary Honors Orchestra rehearsals
CONCERT ATTENDANCE
You may do any combination of these, but there can be no more than two reviews of recorded (audio or video) music and only one live performance may be of a pop or rock concert.
· Attend a non-school concert and write a short review (1 paragraph). Ticket stub or program presented as evidence of attendance.
· Attend a school concert in which you are NOT performing and write a short review (1 paragraph). Ticket stub or program presented as evidence of attendance.
· Review a live or pre-performance viewed on television (PBS, Bravo)
· Review a newly-released audio CD
ALTERNATE OPTION
If you cannot complete any of the tasks under Performance or Community Service, you may do one of the following as an alternate option.
· Write a composition and perform it in front of the class.
· Prepare and present to the class a PowerPoint presentation on a composer, instrument, or style of music (8-10 minutes in length).
